Amplify Damage

Lore

This deceptively potent curse rapidly advances the age and putridity of any wound. Ordinary blows will cut through flesh and carve particularly vicious wounds that fester and seethe.

Notes

This is a good all around curse to spam on everything. Note that this curse also significantly increases damage dealt via Corpse Explosion. Also take note that only the Radius and Duration goes up with more skill points, making this a skill you can invest only 1 point in. This curse can break physically immune monsters.

Dim Vision

Level Requirement: 6

Lore

Damning an enemy to the darkness of their own evil, this curse surrounds the afflicted in a sphere of perfect darkness and silence, blinding them. This allows a Necromancer and his party to slip by unnoticed or maneuver close for a more effective attack.

Stats

Costs 9 mana. This curse "blinds" enemies; it also stops monsters from using their special skills, such as Arctic Blast, Frenzy, or Charge.

Notes

This is a very useful skill that one doesn't see to often. This can nullify such horrors as Gloams and totally negate most ranged monsters.

Weaken

Lore

This bane allows the Necromancer to sap the strength from his enemy. Enemies are enfeebled to the point that their blows become highly ineffective.

Iron Maiden

Lore

This spell curses a creature, condemning them to receive whatever pains they inflict upon others. The greater the skill of the Necromancer, the greater the magnitude of torment the victim receives for his wrongdoings.

The radius of this curse is always 4.6 yards. Costs 5 mana. Only works on melee monsters.

Notes

Somewhat useful, but not the powerhouse it once was. Reduced effectiveness in Nightmare and Hell. You can get more damage returned via a mercenary with the Thorns aura.

Terror

Level Requirement: 12

Lore

This curse causes its victim to hallucinate, conjuring their greatest fear in corporeal form before their eyes. They believe these apparitions are real and run from them as long as the curse affects them.

Stats

This curse always costs 7 mana and has a fixed radius of 2.6 yards at all levels. Causes monsters to run away in fear.

Confuse

Level Requirement: 18

Lore

Necromancers can tap into the spirit realm, channeling bitter and mischievous spirits into the minds of nearby enemies. The victims are bombarded with the gibbering of the dead, which, indistinguishable from their own thoughts, urge them to strike at friend and foe alike. The discordant wailing of these spirits builds to a crescendo, eventually driving the victim mad.

Costs 13 mana. This curse causes monsters to attack at random, most often each other.

Notes

This is perhaps the best crowd control curse there is. When monsters are under this effect, they turn from the player and his minions to attack each other.

Life Tap

Level Requirement: 18

Lore

This skill allows the Necromancer to literally suck the life from his victims. The Necromancer is able to reach into the wellspring of mortality and siphon off its essence, consuming it to replace his own.

Stats

Always costs 9 mana. This curse grants a 50% life steal effect that isn't reduced in Nightmare and Hell.

Notes

Becuase this skill always heals for 50% of the damage done to the target, this is great for recovering life. This is also a very effective curse when playing with melee classes, since it can keep them alive indefinitely.

Attract

Level Requirement: 24

Lore

This hex causes hallucinations in enemies which force them to stop whatever activity they were engaged in and aid the Necromancer in his attacks. Battling their former allies with an unnatural ferocity, this is a vastly demoralizing turn of events for the enemy.

Stats

This curse always costs 17 mana and has a fixed radius of 6 yards. This causes the target monster to be attacked by his once allies.

Interesting to see monsters kill each other. Note that this curse can only effect one monster at a time, and can not override Confuse.

Decrepify

Level Requirement: 24

Lore

This curse gives the victim a glimpse of his own mortality, briefly aging the victim. Imagining itself with an infirm body of advanced age, the afflicted believes it is no longer capable of youthful exertions.

Stats

Always costs 11 mana and has a fixed radius of 4 yards. This skill reduces an enemies damage, physical resistance, and movement speed by 50%.

Notes

This skill is the best skill to use when fighting boss type monsters. Couple this with a Clay Golem and some monster will slow down so much so that they will not poss a threat.

Lower Resist

Level Requirement: 30

Lore

Simply put, this skill increases an enemy's susceptibility to the harsh effects of the elements and elemental magics. Skin burns like paper, chills cut to the bone, and lightning is drawn to the victim as if they were an iron bar in a rainstorm.

Always costs 22 mana. This curses reduces the targets elemental resistances to poison, fire, cold, and lightning.

Notes

This curse can be used to break elementally immune monsters. This is a favorite curse of Sorceresses, because it increases their damage output significantly.
